Online Midrash

    Q: What is a midrash?
A: A midrash is a "Jewish" style discussion group where we investigate the meaning of a stated premise.  All opinions are welcome but the most valid are those that are backed by scripture.
We will allow all opinions to be stated and we (the moderators) will determine which ones will be posted.  We may privately e-mail you for clarification before it is posted to avoid "goat trails" (not rabbits - they're unclean!).
Posting is limited to members only.  You may forward the postings to whomsoever you wish but they can not respond without joining first.  This will, hopefully, avoid postings by those who simply wish to disrupt the discussion for their own political or religious agenda.
Please understand that we come from a Torah based, Messianic background with certain assumptions.  We may be Two- House, One -House, Sacred Name, anti or pro Deity, inerrant or corrupted Scripture, Torah Terrorist, many generation observant or brand new non-observant, etc, etc, etc, BUT we are all in this together!
We need to stop thinking like a "movement" and start thinking like a "kingdom".

Rules:  1. Courtesy.  Respect. No name calling or personal attacks.
You may disagree on a doctrine or position but you should state "why".
              2. No attachments.
i.e.  Stating an opinion and then attaching a 62 page "e-book" to back the opinion.
I don't have time to read it and most of us are too busy.
If you want to give the link we will allow it to be posted.
Otherwise give your personal e-mail and others can contact you privately.
               3. We will not post your e-mail that is simply an advertisement for whatever you promote.
               4. Stay on the subject and back it up with scripture and extra-biblical sources.
If you cannot remember where you read it - ask and we'll try to help you find it.
               5.  There are no dumb questions.  If you want a private answer please say so.

Current premise and questions.

Why was Moshe (Moses) given the book of D'varim (Deuteronomy)?
Why are there over 190 additional commandments and those that are similar have different wordings?
Was this a separate covenant from that given at Sinai? Deut. 29:1
Is it the "new" covenant spoken of by Yahshua?
Could this be the "law" that Sh'aul (Paul) was referring to? Was he speaking of two different laws?
